The Haven is the steady place you can turn to when you’re finally ready to exhale.
A trauma-informed therapy practice in Minnesota that helps sensitive, overwhelmed, and emotionally exhausted people feel supported on their healing journeys.
When you’re always the strong one, reaching out for help can feel hard.
You’re the person who everyone depends on—the one praised for self-sacrificing, overextending, and holding it together, even at the expense of your own mental health. So it’s understandable that admitting you’re struggling can feel hard.
In fact, asking for support might even feel uncomfortable or unfamiliar. From the outside, it looks like you’re managing just fine. But when you’re constantly showing up for everyone else, you end up neglecting yourself, letting your wants and needs go unnoticed and unmet.
And while it might work for a period (maybe even for years), the emotional weight you’ve been carrying eventually starts showing up in other areas of your life.
Here’s what unresolved trauma or emotional exhaustion can actually look like:
Anxious, racing thoughts that make it difficult to slow your mind down
Perfectionism and feeling like you always need to be “on”
Trouble sleeping, resting, or fully relaxing (without guilt)
Shutting down during conflict or feeling emotionally overwhelmed
Trouble controlling emotions like anger or sadness
Physical tension, fatigue, or stress held throughout the body
Feeling disconnected from yourself, your relationships, or the things you once enjoyed
The truth is, there’s nothing weak about needing support. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is finally give yourself permission to receive it.

How I Approach Therapy
I incorporate several therapy modalities and approaches into my work with clients. Here’s how they might show up in your sessions to help us manage overwhelming thoughts, emotional burnout, and stress patterns.
Trauma-Informed Care
You can’t heal if you don’t feel supported. Here, your treatment will always prioritize your emotional safety, trust, and understanding of past wounds so that you can show up as yourself without fear of judgment.
Practical Tools for
Everyday Life
I use tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you examine the patterns that keep you stuck, notice the connections among your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and find realistic ways to respond differently to everyday situations.
Mind-Body
Connection
Sometimes, words just aren’t enough. If you’ve been through something especially hard or traumatic, we can pull from somatic or mindfulness-based approaches to help you pay attention to what’s happening in your body when the stress and anxiety of past experiences show up.
Relationship and Attachment Work
Our past relationships shape who we are today. Looking back at them together can help us make sense of the patterns in our lives and open the door to healthier, more secure relationships moving forward.
Hi, I’m Hannah Harren, LPC and Founder of The Haven
After spending 16+ years as a nurse here in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, primarily in hospice care, I’ve seen firsthand just how deeply burnout, emotional exhaustion, and compassionate fatigue can affect the people who spend their lives caring for everyone else.
When you’re always showing up for others, it becomes easy to disconnect from your own needs. Life keeps moving, responsibilities keep piling up, and before long, you’ve spent so much time in survival mode that slowing down even for a moment can feel scary.
When you walk through the doors of The Haven, you can expect a peaceful, judgment-free environment where you don’t have to minimize your feelings, hold everything together, or pretend you’re fine when you’re not. This is a space where you can show up exactly how you are and be honest about the hard things, while also making room for healing, laughter, growth, and joy along the way.
Being trusted with someone’s vulnerability is something I will never take lightly. It is my hope that, here, you’ll finally feel seen, comforted, and supported enough to begin healing at your own pace.
*Hannah Harren, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), is currently under supervision and working toward her LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor). While she’s set to receive her LPCC in 2027/2028, she has the proper qualifications to treat clients in Minnesota via in-person sessions & telehealth.
How To Get Started
REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT
You can request an appointment by texting or calling me at 320-228-4007. Rest assured that all texts and calls go through Spruce, the secure, HIPAA-compliant phone system that we’ll use to communicate throughout our time together, so your privacy is always protected. I’ll get back to you within 2-3 business days with a a 10 minute free phone consult to answer any questions you may have and to determine whether I’m the right fit for your needs.
If everything feels aligned for both of us, we’ll move forward with scheduling your intake session.COMPLETE YOUR ONBOARDING
I have a few onboarding items for you to complete before your first session, including your intake paperwork (which I’ll send electronically) and steps to set up your payment preferences. The client portal, where you’ll receive your intake paperwork, is HIPAA-compliant and completely secure.
ATTEND YOUR FIRST SESSION
During your 75-minute intake session, we’ll get to know each other and talk about your background, what brings you to therapy, and what you’re hoping to work toward. We’ll also review your intake paperwork and consent forms. You’ll be able to ask me any questions about therapy, how it works, and get a feel for my approach. At the end of your intake session, we’ll begin building a plan for your care moving forward and scheduling your next few sessions.
Support that fits your schedule and your life
Whether you’re most comfortable meeting from home or sitting together in person, therapy should always feel accessible, supportive, and aligned with what feels best for you.
In-Person
My in-person office at 507 Main Street South, Suite 3, Sauk Centre, MN 56378, is basically a cozy little cottage. Because I believe the environment we heal in matters just as much as the work we do together, I do my best to make my therapy space feel as comfortable, welcoming, and homey as possible.
Telehealth
Virtual sessions allow us to work together from anywhere in Minnesota. As long as you have a quiet, private place to talk, a reliable internet connection, and audio & video capabilities, you can receive the same compassionate care from the comfort of… well, wherever you choose.
A note about discretion
Whether you choose telehealth, in-person care, or a combination, your comfort and privacy are deeply important to me. My office includes a back parking lot and a private rear entrance, so you can attend in-person sessions comfortably and confidentially.

Intake sessions are 75 minutes (to give us more time to get to know each other and explore your needs and goals), and standard sessions are 50 minutes.

I don’t. The way I see it, life is already pretty full, and I don’t want to add another step to your packed schedule. Instead, you can request a session by simply texting or calling 320-228-4007. All communication goes through a secure, HIPAA-compliant client system, so your privacy is always protected. I’ll get back to you within 2-3 business days after that to schedule your intake session.
If we’re not a good fit—basically, if I don’t feel like I’m the best therapist for your needs—I’ll still follow up via email or phone to let you know and offer a few alternative options.

This depends on a lot of factors. Most clients start with weekly sessions, and we can adjust the frequency over time based on your needs and goals. Every client is different, and I’ll always develop a unique treatment plan to make sure the schedule works for you.
You’ve spent long enough carrying the weight of everything on your own.
When you’re ready for support that actually makes a difference in your life, I’m here to help.
